En la Cuerda Floja

Have you ever seen a piece of art that you immediately connected with and then you couldn't get it out of your head? It happened to me a few weeks ago at the Eva Armisen exhibit at the Andrew Shire gallery in Los Angeles.  I was thrilled to meet Eva herself and get a photo in front of her wonderful painting, En la Cuerda Floja.  In English, it translates to "On the tight rope."  Ms. Armisen was born in Zaragosa, Spain and currently lives in Barcelona with her family.  Many of Ms. Armisen's paintings relate to the idea of balance and the issues that many of us can relate to with work, family and friendships.

So ever since that evening, I've been thinking about the painting...and in particular, about the beautiful dress.  I began to think about designing a dress as an homage to the painting.  The more I thought about it, the more excited I became.  After spending some time gathering up some textiles, I began working on the dress this weekend. I am having so much fun with this project.  Eva's work inspired me so...

Here's a sneak peek.  :)  I'll post more photos when it's complete.
