B.O.L.O. for Bolo Ties

I got the bolo bug a couple of weeks ago.  A bolo tie is such a versatile accessory and there is a lot of room for creativity within the junction of leather cord and clip.

The hardest part was finding all the bits and pieces of hardware and making sure it all fits together. The braided cord needs to fit into the slide mechanism that allows you to adjust the placement on your neck. And that slide also has to have enough flat area to attach the focal point. And the tips need to have the right opening to attach the cord ends. Then there's the various glues to keep it all together. A lot of measuring and reading the small print in the product descriptions. After all of that is sorted, the fun can begin.

The centerpieces are small assemblages of buttons,  vintage game pieces and other bits and bobs. Some are bright and colorful and others are more earthy. The wooden pieces are from an English wallpaper printing block that started coming apart. Instead of trying to reattach them I decided to use them as a base or starting point. It's funny how you look at things differently when you are in a certain mode of creativity.

I sold a few privately to long-time customers and then consigned the rest to JD Myers, a local clothing and home goods store. Oh, and I kept a couple for myself.
