Shut the front door!

I was walking by the trash can in Carl's workshop this morning and spied a piece of sheer grey screening material. (He's in the process of redesigning our screen doors.) I picked it up expecting it to feel sharp and metallic but it was smooth and flexible. Hmmmm...I thought maybe I could do something with it.  I love the Walker mesh bags and have a small collection in several sizes. This reminded me of that material but a finer mesh and more pliable.

I took it into the studio and cut off a rectangle and took it to the sewing machine, wondering whether it would be easy to stitch a seam. It was! So I decided to make this little makeup bag, utilizing a scrap of Kente cloth, mustard yellow thread and a gray zipper.  I like it!

Moral of the story:  Freegans can have the food, I'll take the  construction supplies!
